From the old days

While we were on holidays in Fernie for a family reunion, we got to go exploring. These are from Hosmer, BC. It use to be quite a large coal mining community...back in the good old days....it is now all grown over , with only a few remenants of what use to be.
My cousin Todd and his wife Dani and little Tyler, took us out there to see there new house and to climb up the mountain to the OLD WASH HOUSE.
I was in HEAVEN!!! I walked around in a daze...watching the light and ignoring all the people..LOL
This is from the front
This is from the inside looking out, only the concrete frame is still standing...what an amazing place...I could have stayed there all day...even in the 30 degree heat!
And this is the wash tunnel under the building. I love how the light illuminates the green staining on the walls
And then we went up to the graveyard...actually it was the forest , beautiful and green.
And then you would see a fence , in the middle of no where.
And a headstone. This one really stood out. It was beautiful.
And this wrought iron fence, I think I took 40 pictures of this fence, from every angle possible. There were so many beautiful headstones for babies and little kids, It must have been a hard life for the people who lived there. I loved the history
And one last shot....the coke ovens. Some have crumbled, but a lot of them have been restored by historical societies. This one is right behind Todd and Dani's new house
