And January is almost over....

On Sunday , the weather was beautiful, the sun was warm. Mike and I went over to Resevoir lake, just down the road. I have a challenge for this month, "In my neighbourhood". This was the perfect spot. The boys didn't want to come , so Mike and went, so nice to be able to go by ourselves now that we know the kids won't kill each other if we leave them alone :)

and some more backyard fun, we have definately had our share of snow this month. The snowmobile has had a good workout. It seems to be more fun in the dark, and the only night we have free is Thursday, so right after dinner we head outside.

On Monday this week, it poured rain, this has been such a weird winter for weather, it has been cold and extremely snowy, and freezing rain! It left some beautiful frost on Mike's truck though. I thought this was so amazing, all the patterns and textures. The weather is still warm, above freezing, and tomorrow we will be back in the sub zero temps. I know what we are doing this weekend..... gravelling the driveway. As soon as it freezes , we will have something new...a skating rink. not looking forward to that

An Interesting trip

The morning started out great. I packed the van, had everything ready. The road reports were good, and we were heading to Vancouver for soccer.

And then it all changed! We left at lunchtime, thinking that we would beat any chance of snow. We were sadly mistaken. The snow started, and it was like a blizzard, and it wasn't letting up. For 3 hours we drove in this weather, slowly , carefully. I'm so glad that Mike was driving, I would have turned back. The snow finally stopped at Cache Creek...hurray! The skies started to clear, the roads were wet, not icy. It was getting better, I was happy. The light in the canyon was so pretty reflecting off the snow. Yes I take a lot of pictures while we drive, I'm easily entertained. This was just before Spenses Bridge.... 1/2 way there. Or ... at least that is what we thought.... As we drove into Spenses Bridge the over head sign said "Route 1 CLOSED!!" NNNOOOOO. Really? And there he was , the guy holding the stop sign and telling us there was a slide, at Yale. We were turned around and took the goat trail over to Merritt, by this time it was dark, and my cell phone was ringing. "Yes Mom, we are fine and heading over the Coquihalla ". If you have never been over the Coq , my suggestion is to do it in the Summer time, and in the daylight. It was an interesting drive, I think we hit every possible weather type there is... insane! We arrived at Jason's around 9pm, so much for a quick trip.

At the soccer the next morning, you would never know that the weather was bad Corb went skateboarding at Ambleside park. It was cool in Vancouver, but then it is January The puddles were frozen in the parking lots, so pretty. I think I want these printed for my bedroom. The trip home was much less eventful. The canyon was open, and it cut the time down by at least 3 hours. Still winter conditions, and cars in the ditches, but much better!!

Happy New Year 2011

I thought I would start out this new year, with an overdue blog post. I promise to update more...and I'm sure if I don't you will let me know.
Real snowflake in the dark, lit by a flash light. Do you know how hard it is to find a flashlight with batteries in this house, much harder than taking this picture

My other Brother...Jason was here for Christmas, all I can say is " I'll tell you about it!" Jay, you are boarderline ... we had a great time. This was the tree this year :) Good thing you can't see the mess outside the frame, the house has been destroyed for weeks And of course some outside shots. We hardly have any snow, but we made use of what there was . Logan out in the yard, ready to snowmobile and a close up of Corb with my macro lens. and everyone took a turn on the snowmobile Christms eve, or at least the snow saucers. Corbin had more turns than the rest of us. Here is Corb and Sara. And Corb and Uncle Gord. I didn't get the rest of us, it's hard to shoot in the dark I bet Gord was feelig that the next day. Ouch!

I will have more soon...promise!
